ANDREW "THE BULLET" LAUER

Anyone who hears Andrew "The Bullet" Lauer play thinks that he must have learnt to play his instrument as a young boy. His high-impact grooves have made him into a household name. He fires the bass lines out like bullets at the listeners. Andrew doesn't hold back, even if he's not currently playing a virtuoso solo. You can hardly believe that he first started with the bass aged 20. With his characteristic playing Andrew almost transports you to another dimension and is completely indistinguishable from his instrument. He lives, breathes and feels the sound he generates and is completely devoted to it. The magical confluence of these elements really comes across when Andrew is on stage.

The bassist was born in 1985 in Yuba City, California and moved to Germany when he was 7. He has lived in southern Germany ever since. His love of groove was apparent early on: at the age of 8 he wanted to be a drummer. Due to personal circumstances this was not to be but a few years later his uncle gave him an acoustic guitar and a teach-yourself-book to make up for it. After he had been learning the guitar for a while Andrew found out that his late father was also involved in music on the piano and trumpet. This made things clear for Andrew: his love for music had a deeper meaning and he was going to get acutely involved.

Andrew Lauer finally came into contact with his future main instrument when living with some other musicians. His flatmates showed him a few tricks and playing techniques on the bass which awoke Andrew's interest. He was determined to learn slapping and started to teach himself. Drummer Alexander Landenburg, who had introduced Andrew to rhythm and harmony theory early on, immediately recognised his talent and gave Andrew the last push he needed: "Andrew, hang up your guitar and play bass instead!" Andrew didn't need telling twice and from this point on soaked up anything to do with the bass. He was completely overwhelmed by the unknown tricks he was able to coax out of his new instrument. After bands such as Tower of Power and Dream Theater, he became aware of Vital Tech Tones whose bassist Mr Victor Wooten is credited as one of his most important influences. This really shows the musical diversity and openness that Andrew Lauer represents.

In this way Andrew Lauer has catapulted to stardom in the bass world and shot to the top. After numerous appearances at fairs he also likes to be booked for workshops. After worldwide tours with different artist all over the world, he released his first solo album called "My Bass Souls" in 2016.
